I want blackboard.com to make the jump to web 2.0!...
I want a SIMPLE website and maybe a f’ing email notification when I get a new homework asssignment! Do it guys! — peterberkman Blackboard doesn’t work in Safari. There are no RSS capabilities. Discussion threads are impossible. Why haven’t there been any new competitors to jump into this market? It’s an easy service to provide, and school contracts would be a total...

A President Like My Father - New York Times →
Amazing, well-written endorsement. However, I think it’d be more moving if the title were “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy.”

Delicious Library →
I’m really interested in this software. Lets you catalog media and other things on your shelf. Basically, anything that’s got a barcode, you scan into your computer using the iSight camera. Great for creating a library for your friends to borrow books and DVD’s from. And, in case of emergencies, great for insurance purposes. But, is it worth $40?

Introducing... All Day Buffet
“Change” seems to be an early contender for word-of-the-year. With that in mind, I’d like to share the work of alldaybuffet, a non-profit organization that one of my best buddies from college started up in NYC. Alldaybuffet introduces itself like so: “Pleased to meet you, we’re alldaybuffet. A social awareness brand for the cool kids. Our purpose is to connect the...

– BARACK OBAMA Sun SlideShow > Obama at Culinary Union 226 Obama discusses The Wire, which just happens to be the best television in history (according to Wikipedia, citation needed). His favorite character is Omar. I wonder if HRC even watches.

Satchel Paige: Striking Out Jim Crow
Okay. It’s time for me to get my Reading Rainbow on. If you’re interested in learning about the history of Negro League baseball, the Jim Crow era South, and graphic novels, I recommend checking out “Satchel Paige: Striking Out Jim Crow” at your local comic store. I picked up a copy from Daydream Comics in Iowa City, IA when I was driving through there last month....

Push Polling in Iowa
Here’s another piece I just posted over at Huffington Post titled “Victims Of Push Polling Speak Out And Organize.” It’s a follow-up to the previous post on political telemarketing, “Cell Phone-only Voters Frustrate Campaigns.”

Ettore Sottsass, designer, RIP
The man who designed the Olivetti Valentine has passed away. He worked as a design consultant for Olivetti from 1958 to 1980, creating the Elea 9003 calculator and the popular portable red typewriter, released on Valentine’s Day in 1969. Sottsass referred to his typewriter as the “anti-machine machine.” Its features included a carriage that dropped to the level of the keyboard...
